V-Button Player Statistics

One of the V-Button's powerful capabilities is its ability to reach nearly any Internet user with a video message. Over 90% of all Internet users have one of three common video player software installed. They are Windows Media, RealPlayer, or QuickTime. The V-Button can detect which player is installed on the viewer's computer and deliver the kind of media they can play. This means that viewers don't have to install any new software or make changes to their computer in order to receive a video message from a V-Button advertiser.

The following data represents historical data about the player preferences and users statistics over the past 3 years. This data is updated periodically.

The are three popular video streaming software applications, all free, which are used widely on the Internet. The V-Button supports users of all three types. In fact, our auto-detection system will search the viewer's computer and deliver the media in a way that is compatible with their system.

The current "user preferences" for streaming software are as follows:

  • Windows Media Player - 51%
  • RealVideo - 34%
  • QuickTime - 15%

Again, the V-Button provides each media type in three different data rates. Users who have a dial-up modem, can not access media that is designed for high-speed connections, such as cable or DSL modem.

The V-Button auto-detection system can determine which data rate is appropriate for each user. Also, it will sense the presence of a security firewall. The data to the right, represents the current historical preferences of our V-Button viewers:

  • High - 48% (126 to 256 kbps dynamically regulated)
  • Low - 40% (20 to 40 kbps dynamically regulated)
  • Firewall - 12% (40 kbps fixed)
