The V-Button in Email Applications

WebcastingTV's Email Marketing System (EMS) is an email sales support system. It is designed to deliver a compelling HTML email and video message, and then track the recipient's use of the campaign. The sales person can see the Effectiveness of their campaign and follow-up with the recipients who show interest in the message.

The EMS delivers a email campaign that consists of three parts: the HTML email; the video; and links to additional webpages. These "parts" are monitored by the EMS and it records if a campaign recipient access each part.

From our real-world data, email campaigns sent by the EMS achieve, on average, the following utilization. For each 100 emails sent, 60% are opened, 22% play the video, and 8% click on links.

Percentage of EMS Usage

The average V-Button video viewing statistic is represented at the right.

For each recipient who opens their EMS campaign email, 37% view the video. 63% simply read the email without viewing the video.

Email-Only vs. Video

For each campaign the EMS sends, it tracks how many of the recipients view the campaign. But, it also tracks how many ties each recipient views it.

The campaign data to the right reflects a typical distribution of tracking numbers. In this case, a campaign of 4217 emails was sent. Then, 2605 unique recipients opened the email 7298 times. Nearly 3 times for each one.

This pattern is typical, and it extends out to the other parts of most campaigns. For example the video and click counts are nearly double the unique viewer count.
