This is an exciting new service at Yale Video. Our recent transmission clients include CNBC, CNN, CBC, Extra, Access Hollywood, and Fox News. It really is the "Information Super Highway". There are applications for these services in broadcast television, national cable services, advertising, and corporate television. The most spectacular is the ability to uplink to a satellite directly from Yale Video. Specifically, Yale Video is connected to Pacific Bell's new broadcast-quality television service called ABVS. It provides 45 megabits of digital bandwidth (compared to normal phone lines at 56 kilobits). With that level of "connectivity" (in phone company language) Yale Video can connect to a growing number of other facilities including many satellite uplink facilities. Yale Video's "feed-point" services also include a "First Video Affiliate" agreement with VYVX, a national fiber optic service available as a less expensive alternative to satellite transmission. VYVX also provides other benefits over satellite transmission. The first is picture quality. VYVX is entirely digital. There is no "beaming" up and down from an orbiting satellite. It also provides "security" for the signal. Only the receiving end of the VYVX feed can see the transmission. No one can tune-in and watch your program, like on a satellite. Take a look at the image below to see a United States and Canada map showing the Vyvx network. |
