COMPUTER GENERATED IMAGERY

2D & 3D Graphics and Animation:

Yale's state of the art computer graphics department has more experience than any other facility in Orange County. Just watch our demo tape and you will see a scope of work that spans nearly every application. Whether you need a company logo, character animation or a complex photo-realistic FX, Yale Video has the talent and technology just for you.

There are two primary systems: Our 2D MacIntosh based platformand our 3D DEC Alpha platform running Lightwave 3D. The software employed on these systems is the latest professional versions. Our artists "live and work" on these systems everyday. Their proficiency and creativity is obvious as you watch them work.

If you plan to "B.Y.O.G." (Bring Your Own Graphics) in a digital format to an edit session, make sure your images are at least 640 pixels by 480 pixels or larger. Illustrator/EPS files (with "outlined" fonts) and/or Unflattened Photoshop files are the prefered image formats and offer the greatest amount of flexibility. Other formats are accepted but may considerably increase the time needed to prepare for video use. If you are going to email them to us, send it to Leo at LeoK@yalevideo.com. If you have any questions please feel free to call Leo at (714) 693-5300 ext. 58.

This TWA Ambassador Theatre animation was a fun project to work on and ended up being extremely visually stunning. It begins in darkness as a laser shoots on screen and draws the logo. Complete with sparks, flares and a cool sound track, it really stands out.
This Lobo Productions animation was a rather cool project as well. It began with live footage of a howling wolf . As it howls, the wolf "morphs" into a gold outline of the wolf. The moon then rises and the text appear with a ramping glow, all the while cool reflections move subtlety throughout the moon and logo.
This photo-realistic animation was created to show that we can do more that your average logo treatments. At Yale Video, we have the cutting edge technology, talent and techniques to handle anything. This "Valkyrie" fighter, completely modeled in LightWave, is made up of 200,000 polygons and has over 150 custom digitally hand painted texture maps.
"A nostalgic night at the movies" was the theme of this Telly Award winning, old fashioned, photo-realistic marquee theater animation for Tam Airline's in-flight pre-feature presentation. Utilizing blue-screen and alpha matte techniques, the animation even included a real person moving inside the ticket booth. All models, animation, textures and mattes were done on the DEC Alpha using LightWave 3D and a few different 2D applications.
Utilizing LightWave 3D on the DEC Alpha platform, this American Airlines Animation , based on AA's own globe animation, was initially created to aid a sales pitch for an in-flight show. The client was so pleased with the quality that it was used in the final cut instead of AA's original piece.

This Carl's Junior Logo Treatment was produced to use during the fast food chain's broadcast commercials and their in-house employee training. It was entirely created on the SGI Vertigo platform.

This Disney Vacation Club animation combined live action and 2D paint elements to create a computer simulated "pop-up" book as a transitional mechanism during the show.

This is one of many Globe Animations used in our recent computer graphic projects. This one is unique because the animation travels from outer space, down through the clouds, and all the way to a tee on a golf course.

This is part of an opening sequence from an ESPN drag-boat racing show. The entire sequence last 30 seconds and involves rotoscoping of drag-boat crashes, morphing from boat to boat, and finally assembly of the IHBA logo.

This Cutaway Animation of a scuba regulator was produce for a manufacturer's trade show. It demonstrates the inner workings of the regulator "in action".
