The Battleship USS New Jersey has
an unsurpassed history in the US Navy. She has served with distinction in
four world conflicts. In World War II, the New Jersey was the flagship of
Adm. William "Bull" Halsey. Big "J" went on to
serve in the Korean, Vietnam, and The Middle East. In 48 years of service,
The New Jersey received 16 Battle Stars and 13 other citations, medals, and
ribbons, making her the most decorated warship in US Naval history.
WebcastingTV
will provide continuing coverage of the USS New Jersey Battleship Commission's
efforts to relocate the ship to an honored site in New Jersey as a
floating memorial to the battles
that were fought, and the men who served aboard this great ship.
On September 12, 1999 Big "J" embarked on her last major sea
voyage, a 5,900 mile trip from Puget Sound in Washington to New
Jersey. She passed through the Panama Canal in early October, with only 7 inches
to spare, and arrived in New Jersey November 11th. Follow are clips from
Seattle and Panama. Footage from the New Jersey's recent arrival in Philadelphia
will be available soon.
