WebcastingTV's detailed instructions for downloading and installing Microsoft's Windows Media Player software.

Currently, WebcastingTV uses the Microsoft Windows Media Player (WMP) software in addition to others.  It is FREE software available from Microsoft's website.  Just press here for the "FREE WMP".   Follow the instructions for downloading the software.  Some download tips are listed below:

To download and install the Windows Media Player using Internet Explorer

  1. On the Windows Media Technologies page, in the "Download Center," use the pull-down menus to select the software and operating system you are using. (Leave "Select download" on "Windows Media Player" and use "Select Version" to set the operating system you are using).  The page will change to present a button to download the software.
  2. Click the Download Now button.
  3. In the File Download dialog box, select Run this program from its current location, and then click OK.
  4. When the security warning appears, click Yes to continue installing.
  5. The program will display an End User License Agreement, click Yes if you agree to comply.
  6. After installing the initial program files, specify your Internet connection speed. Choose between 14.4K, 19.2K, 28.8K, 56KModem/ISDN, 112K Modem/Dual-ISDN, T1/Lan, or Unknown/Other. If you do not know your connection speed, ask your network administrator or refer to your modem documentation.
  7. Click OK.
  8. After you click OK, your default Web browser will launch and display WindowsMedia.com. This site contains links to audio and video to play in your Windows Media Player.

To download and install Windows Media Player using Navigator

  1. On the Windows Media Technologies page, in the "Download Center," use the pull-down menus to select the software and operating system you are using. (Leave "Select download" on "Windows Media Player" and use "Select Version" to set the operating system you are using).  The page will change to present a button to download the software.
  2. Click the Download Now button.
  3. In the Save As dialog box, choose the location to which you'd like to save the file.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Locate the file in its saved location and double-click it to run setup.
  6. The Windows Media Player Setup window will recommend you exit all applications before continuing with the player installation. Close all programs, then click Yes.
  7. The program will display an End User License Agreement, click Yes if you agree to comply.
  8. After installing the initial program files, specify your Internet connection speed. Choose between 14.4K, 19.2K, 28.8K, 56KModem/ISDN, 112K Modem/Dual-ISDN, T1/Lan, or Unknown/Other. If you do not know your connection speed, ask your network administrator or refer to your modem documentation.
  9. Click OK.
  10. After you click OK, your default Web browser will launch and display WindowsMedia.com. This site contains links to audio and video to play in your Windows Media Player.

   
Press this Test Button to check your installation.

You will need to know the modem speed (bits per second) of your connection to the internet.  Most people have a "dial-up" account with a modem that is either 28.8k (28,800 bits per second) or a 56k (56,000 bits per second).   More and more people are installing "cable" modems or "DSL" connections, and if you have one of these, you can select the highest stream rate.
